“ | This is the first Super Hostile map made from the ground up supporting enchanting and brewing, and the first map created after the armor changes in Minecraft 1.0. Expect wonderful loot, enchanted items, potions, and plenty of monsters to put your awesome items to use against. | ” |

Spellbound Caves is the tenth installment of the Super Hostile series, a CTM series by Vechs. Like The Kaizo Caverns, it takes place almost completely underground, with only the starting area exposed to the sky.
Overview[]
This map is balanced around the addition of potions and enchantments to Minecraft, leaving some areas remarkably harder if not adequately equipped. This especially applies to the final two dungeons, which are particularly challenging even when properly armed. Mob activated dispensers with deadly Harming and Poison potions are also featured in some areas, as well as Ender Crystals to neutralize certain spawners.
While some players prefer to play Super Hostile maps in newer versions of Minecraft, version 1.8 and later removed Void Fog which ruins several late-game areas by making them far easier, and version 1.7 made the Purple Wool area liable to crash the game due to a new interaction between explosions and Silverfish blocks. Chests may not spawn in the 1.8 update as well.

Intersections[]
Strategies[]
- As mentioned, Ender Crystals are often placed under Ghast spawners. Shooting the Crystals with an arrow will explode the Ghast spawners, though other spawners will typically be unaffected by the blast.
- The Rumbling Cavern has many paths of floating gravel that can collapse and crush the player. Avoid updating the gravel if you can, and keep your ears open for proximity bombs.
- In Black Heart Citadel, TNT is scattered around the roof of the fortress. Much of this TNT is located near spawners. Rushing in with a flint and steel can neutralize a spawner quickly before too many mobs spawn and pose a serious risk to the player.
